When I hear someone, who has given help to another in need, making sure they announce to the whole world of their seemingly generous act, it gives me an uncomfortable feeling. True giving, out of compassion, is done when you keep it quiet, thus allowing the receiver to keep their dignity.
Another sign that someone’s giving was not done from the heart is when they remind you of their “kind act”. You might find that they expect you to return their act in their time frame and their way.
Their act of giving seems then to have not come from the right place and has too many “strings attached”.
