As I drive to the local food store, I find myself asking….”God, please don’t let me see whoever it is I don’t want to while I’m shopping!” I walk through the isles pretending to look straight forward, almost as if I’m new in town or are in deep thought. If I do see an old acquaintance, I say “hello, it’s nice to see you, and maybe, how is your family” as my body language is leaning towards moving forward as if to make the meeting brief. If this person was important in my world, we’d be meeting for a good cup of coffee and not a happenstance at the Food Store. Keep your circle tight, you owe no one your life’s details as you convene at the checkout counter.
