Weekday Weddings vs. Weekend Weddings

It’s not simply a logistical decision, whether you choose a quiet weekday or a joyful weekend celebration, there many factors behind the decision.

Weekday weddings are becoming more popular, while weekend weddings remain the traditional favorite.

A Weekday Wedding

Venues and vendors often charge significantly less during the week, couples are able to steward their finances.  Also, there’s a greater choice of venues.

A weekday wedding creates a greater chance of guests being unable to attend, as it does require a day off from work or more if the wedding venue requires traveling.

The engaged couple should be understanding if they receive regrets.  The rule, “if they wanted to be there they would be”, isn’t necessarily fair in this case. It may be your guest can’t arrange the time off or arrange babysitting if that is required.  Financially, sending a gift is more reasonable than giving a gift and missing a day or two of work with the possibility of an additional expense of a hotel room if traveling is needed.

A Weekend Wedding

Weekend weddings make it easier for loved ones to gather, travel, and linger, creating fuller rooms, longer dances, and more shared laughter. For couples with large families or many out-of-town guests, weekends allow loved ones to show up with less stress and more presence.

Which Day Is Right for You?

After addressing the pros and cons, you should select the day that aligns best with your values, your family, your budget, and your peace.

The most important thing is not the day, it’s the covenant you are entering.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
